Magic File Renamer 8 keeps the classic splitter shell: File List on the left, Rename List across the bottom, Available Filters and Filter Chain above Filter Configuration on the right.

• Menu / toolbar - GO, Undo last, Rename Log, Options, File List view modes, Rename List and Filters commands.
• File List - browse the current folder; add files to Rename List.
• Rename List - items to process, preview, sort, export. Color legend explains cell and row colors.
• Available Filters - filter palette by group.
• Filter Chain - ordered filters to apply (was "Applied Filters" in MFR 7).
• Filter Configuration - options for the selected chain step.
• Status bar - hint text plus Items / Filters / Changes / Preview errors.
• Options and Rename Log - Tools / MFR menu.
• Tools → Generate Rename Script… - writes pending path and attribute changes as a .bat or .ps1 file. Not a console mfrc line.
• Command Line Builder - Tools menu; copies a ready mfrc line.
• Presets / Save preset - Filter Chain toolbar.
• Filter options
