Minimum System Requirements:
-
IBM Compatible PC.
-
Microsoft Windows 98 or later version.

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1.
.NET framework allows you to run applications built using the .NET Framework,
like MFR.
You must install the .NET framework prior to installing MFR.
You can download the installation file directly

Installation:

MFR 6.12 installation package, mfr61Xse.zip for
Standard Edition or mfr61Xpro.zip for Professional
Edition (X specify the exact minor version), comes packed in ZIP format. Use any
unzip program the extract the ZIP file to a temporary folder.

After unzipping, run the installer program, mfr6XXXX_setup.msi
(depnds on the exact version and edition), to install MFR on your system.
Note that the .NET Framework 1.1 must be installed on your system before
installing MFR. See "Minimum System Requirements" section above for more
details.

MFR 6.12 default installation path is C:\Program
Files\FineBytes\MFR6. Do not install MFR in the same folder
of an existing previous version (5.x or earlier) of MFR (Usually C:\Program
Files\MFR). See the section below, Version
Compatibility.

During installation, you'll be prompted with a question whether to add MFR to
Windows Explorer right-click context menu. See Windows
Context Menu Support.

After installing, all MFR program files will be installed in the selected
folder, Start menu group called FineBytes\Magic File Renamer 6
will be created, and a shortcut to the MFR program file will be created on
Desktop.
You can use the desktop shortcut or the start menu group to launch MFR.

MFR supports XCOPY deployment of the installation folder with the following
exceptions in the target system:
Uninstallation:

You can uninstall MFR 6.12 by selecting Add or Remove Programs
from within Control Panel.
Version Compatibility, Upgrading from Previous Version:

As for MFR 6 was totally redesigned and rewritten, it is not compatible to
previous (5.x or earlier) versions of MFR.

Presets, logs and configuration from previous versions of MFR are not
supported.

You should not install MFR on top of another installation of a previous version
(5.x or earlier) of MFR. If you wish to install MFR in the same folder of a previous
installation, please uninstall the previous installation first.
All prior versions of MFR were installed by default in the folder
C:\Program Files\MFR.

Two versions of MFR (5.x and 6.x) can be installed together safely in one system. In all the
shortcuts of MFR 6, version number "6"
is mentioned, to spare confusion.

You can safely remove a previous version of MFR after installing MFR 6.1.
Windows Context Menu Support:
-
MFR can integrate itself in Windows Explorer (shell) right-click menu, as a
menu entry.

Whenever you right-click on a file or folder from Windows Explorer or similar
application, Rename ... with MFR 6 option will
appear in the context menu.
Clicking this menu entry will launch a fresh instance of MFR and add the
currently selected file(s) or folder(s) to the Rename
List.

You can select whether to integrate MFR in Windows Context Menu during
installation.

Note that if you have MFR version 5.3b installed too in your system, a menu
item Rename ... with MFR may also appear in the
context menu.
