Nearby place tokens (<geo-*>)
call the free GeoNames web service. Options → Location → GeoNames username defaults to the
built-in Magic File Renamer account (fbmfr) so lookups work without
setup. That account shares a daily credit pool across all installs. Change the field to your
own username if you want a private quota.
Open Manage account / your account settings and enable
free web services (required; registration alone is not enough).
Copy your GeoNames username (not your password) into Options → Location →
GeoNames username (replacing the default fbmfr).
Credits and attribution
Free accounts have hourly and daily credit limits. Each
findNearby call costs several credits. Cached coordinates do not
spend credits again.
The built-in account is shared: heavy use of Nearby on GPS-diverse lists can exhaust the
free tier for everyone until the window resets. Prefer your own username for large batches.
